  • HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

Bail bonds in Monroe County require 10% of the total bond amount to be paid to secure release. There is a $100 bond minimum. The amount declared to post bail is non-negotiable and varies greatly depending on the circumstances and charges of the arrest. Crimes held in federal court require a 15% minimum to be paid before release.

Bail Bond amounts are set by a Magistrate and are not negotiable without a motion for bond reduction hearing which can take several weeks to be scheduled on a docket and be heard in criminal court. At the bond reduction hearings, both the Attorney for the defendant and Attorneys from the State Attorney’s Office will be heard on their reasonings and recommendations. It will then be decided by a magistrate if the bail bond amount will stay the same or be reduced. For more information, on bond reduction hearings contact your attorney.

The State of Florida requires that all bail bond companies charge 10% of the total amount of bail, in order to post bond for a defendant. That means that if the bail is $5,000, the bail bondsman is required to charge $500 to post a bond in place of the bail. If the crime is being held in a federal court, law requires the bail bondsman to charge 15%. These charges are set by statute, and all bail bond companies must charge the same amount.
